Lyra is a girl
Discovers the ruthless plot
Destiny has warped

daemons are not pets
But a manifested soul
Mine just changed its shape

The daemon changes.
From bird to leopard, and back
Trying to settle.

(yeah, okay, that was lame, but haikus ain't my thing... just wanted to answer to call for creativity).

The only decent poetry rhymes...

Going to the North
Got my dæmon by my side
Proudly we go forth

not necessarily. poems that don't rhyme, but still have good rythm are decent too.

Poems don't have to rhyme to be good! But isn't rhyming poetry usually translated so it rhymes in the language it's translated into? Kind of changes the meaning, but I think that's generally how it's done? Translating poetry is not fun. :( I can't imagine trying to translate it so it rhymes. Way too hard.

What does it say, 'Stay away from people who think that poems should rhyme' ?

No, it Says, "Stay away from people with snakes as their dæmons!"

Ah well, no problem there seeing as I have neither a snake nor a dæmon.

here's a haiku:

daemon severing
pain races through my body
now we are apart
okay, that was depressing here's another:

little red fruit tastes
like the sun, moon and stars, all
shining inside me
heehee....

Angels fight the dark;
In a glade of dappled light
Two children grow up.
