Sounds like someone went to V last month
That was amazing... but Radiohead were't as special as they have been in the past. I do stress it WAS amazing though, but something wasn't *quite* right. It definitely wasn't on a par with the South Park or Glasto shows.
Hmmm, I've seen so many bands over the years. Muse at Reading last weekend was pretty spectacular, but I've also seen them be awful in front of 200 people supporting Coldplay before either had an album out.
Morrissey springs to mind. Outdoor gigs in 2004 were good, especially Old Trafford when Johnny Marr joined him - that was a special moment.
I think Supergrass are my favourite set so far. 2004 Reading Festival, headlining the Radio 1 tent on the Sunday. Was with 20 friends, we were all together, it was my birthday and it was just a PERFECT gig, from the music played before to the party afterwards.
Just about old enough to remember seeing Nirvana live, but wasn't old enough to have any idea how the gig went. I don't think I was particularly interested.
They seem to have lost all their credibility over the years but Stereophonics' double-header of gigs at Donnington and Cardiff WERE great back then. Played the set in near-chronological order, absolutely ram-packed with every damn song you wanted to hear from the (then) three albums. Even got Ash, The Crocketts and The Black Crowes thrown in for a one-day mini-festival thing.
Scissor Sisters, Panic! At The Disco (
sans bottles), Dresden Dolls, Gnarls Barkley ALL put on spectacular shows... as do Kylie, Madonna, Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers.
I think my favourite EVER night out was White Rose Movement / Cut Copy / Test-Icicles / Erol Alkan at Trash, about 18 months ago... that just WENT OFF. Not sure I've ever really recovered.
Part of the weekend never dies.
Token mention of Soulwax.
Roll on Bestival at the weekend...
I loves music, me.
