my favourite bookseller has just informed me that a new edition of HDM trilogy by Scholatic is coming out on the 2nd of April in hardback.

Does anyone know if this edition will contain the special contents written by Philip Pullman (maps, Scoresby's Diary, and so on?)

Thanx

Yeah, they're out. Saw them in Blackwell's on Saturday. I only initially stopped to look at the pretty covers, but saw the 'new matrial' symbol. Has a quick flick through, but didn't see any of the new stuff. Didn't see any maps and stuff, but then I was just dashing to be somewhere at the time. If anybody thinks they're worth getting for the additional material let us all know.

This new material, I take it it was in the first draft and then edited out?

Has there been a "now a major motion picture" edition yet, I hated when they did with LOTR, as I couldnt find a version with a better cover at short notice.

Yeah, I saw them in Waterstones the other day. Soon to be a major motion picture or something, they said on them.

Did I mention I work at Sussex Stationers now (that's probably meaningless to anyone outside the southest of England - it's a bookshop which focuses on bestsellers and, as faras I can tell, gardening books)? Anyway, the new editions are the rather washed-out-looking oneas with a creature (iorek, cat etc) above the title and a scene below. The tagline is 'soon to the THE GOLDEN COMPASS movie'.

"major motion picture coming soon" editions are usually pretty blah. is there going to be a novelisation of the film?
