I think this is not possible, but it can be possible in your mind... who thinks they exist (tangibly, of course)

daemons aren't of our world... but if you look at the third definition of tangible...

tangible

tan·gi·ble [tánjəb’l]
adj

1. able to be touched: able to be touched or perceived through the sense of touch
a tangible coldness

2. actual: capable of being understood and evaluated, and therefore regarded as real
There is no tangible evidence to support this claim.

3. able to be realized: capable of being given a physical existence
some very tangible financial benefits

n (plural tan·gi·bles)

something tangible: something that has a physical form, especially a financial asset (often used in the plural)

[Late 16th century. Directly or via French from late Latin tangibilis “that may be touched,â€Â

But when you reach that state, I think you go crazy...

yes, but then if you're able to believe hard enough that it's there so that it's actually there... meanwhile knowing what is real and what is realised (and of course what is neither real or even realised but completely unreal), then you've got a powerful mind.

it's like how serafina taught mary malone how to see the daemon... the holding her sight in two frames...

i still dont believe that is possible... that's like creating a mirage that you can touch... you can't do that unless you're that guy from

A Beautiful Mind, or unless you're crazy

the nash dude was cool... it was so sweet... that thing with the stars and the connect-the-dots... that was cool.

but yeah, i don't think daemons exist tangibly in our world. but tangible... when interpreted as able to be realised... i'm sure that's possible, but in the sense that i believe "anything and everything is possible..." they just don't end up happing 99% of the time.

Well Spoken, Jessica. I totally agree with you! *(but anyone who can feel or touch their daemons are either crazy or is depressed in such a state after reading the Amber Spyglass that they have gone MAD)*

omigod, i got called well-spoken, what has the world come to?

the amber spyglass had a happy ending... just lots of sad things had to happen in order for it to be so.

Happy Schmappy! I was moping around for 4 days after reading it... I just couldn't think of anything other than the book! I was very depressing...

lol me too! I was so mad at the ending that i threw the book down...

Anyway, about the dæmons-I love the idea and all but it totally goes against my Christian beliefs. No offense to anyone, but I do think it's a bit strange that some people do believe in dæmons. You should be able to distinguish fact from fantasy.

But I still think it would be cool if we really had them!!

Well Spoken, Stardust. I agree with you TOTALLY! yes, and I also wish we had daemons... that would be truely awesome... but if I had the subtle knife that would be more awesome, cause you can get your own daemon by going to Lyra's World... YAY!!!

but, that's not possible.... I'm so depressed :(

lol yeah, that would be great!

But you don't get your dæmon (your visible dæmon, anyway) from traveling to Lyra's world, you have to cross the lake in the world of the dead, I think...

I think daemons exist, but not really in the strict HDM sense. Obviously, I mean, none of us actually have one everyone can see and talk to and touch and is an actual Pullman daemon. But souls are real, as far as I know (admittedly not much  ) and daemons are a projection of one's soul. Plus the idea of animal and human souls interlocked is ancient.

I'm not voting. You left out the 3rd option, that most of us would probably agree with. The daemon is the soul, intangible, but part of you.

just a question... how does having a daemon go against your Christian beliefs... is just 'cause your daemon's not actually (physically) there and you shouldn't go believing in false things...?

'cause daemon of the hdm world(s), is just an outward physical expression of person's soul in the form of an animal.

but anyways, i agree with the rest of what you said. it's a little creepy when people believe that there's a daemon right there... like tangibly and everything. we all have souls (well maybe not all of us, but most of us. btw that was not directed at anyone in particular or anyone here at all...)... but they're not something we can cuddle up with or pet, or play hide and seek with (hide and seek with your soul... that's actually pretty cool), they're intangible.

Well it's kind of hard to explain. I don't know, I guess it's just cuz it's not taught in the Bible or anything. When I said dæmons went against my beliefs I meant the physical kind...I think that's what I meant...okay now I've confused myself!

so it's the kinda thing how... you shouldn't go believing in things that aren't real?

Hey, maybe that is what I meant. I mean, why believe in something you know isn't real? You'd just be setting yourself up for disappointment.

Yeah I think that is what I meant all along. lol, thanks for straightening me out, jessia.

You're so articulate. How do you do it? :)

i t y p e v e r y s l o w l y . :D

articulate is something i cannot achieve in speech though... i have a tendency to begin a new sentence halfway through one i just started... then i'll be finishing the first sentence while saying the new sentence at the same time. the only reason my friends kind of understand what i say is 'cause they've had at least six years of experience listening to the gibberish that comes out of my mouth. i should get a speech therapist one day... but they're so damn expensive. and the school board only has maybe three speech therapists for the whole of the city... and e.s.l kids and kids with like physical problems getting in the way of their speech, or kids with lisps get priority.

Anyway, I don't think they can become physically tangible, but I think you can communicate with your dæmon...
