TBOD: Should The Book of Dust have extras?

Um, I just wanted to start a new thread on this board since everyone has been posting in the "What do you want to see" thread. So. Book of Dust. Do you think it should include drawings and maps as well as stories? You know, like a map of Lyra's travels in TGC/NL etc.

It's a great idea, and I think it would be quite interesting.

I also think perhaps there should be a timeline. Not just for the events in HDM, though one for HDM would be helpful. I couldn't really get a grasp on exactly how much time had passed between events in HDM.

Maybe pictures of vehicles or buildings. Id love to see the intention craft. I wouldnt liketo see any of the characters as I feel this would shatter my picture of them.

Map, showing all journeys in differant worlds

diagrams of mulefa and tualapi

My copy of The Hobbit has small watercolours on a few pages, hobbiton, smaug etc. , they could hve this with hdm: The Shanty town in lotd, the mulefa village, the consistorila court, bolvangor, svalbard and the Botanic Garden etc.

Blueprints (i no thats not the right word but it gets the point across) of Jordan College, torre degli angeli etc.

Have loads more just cant remember them

I would like to see a map that shows where every window is in Lyra's world, Will's world, the Mulefa's world, etc.

Well, that would be a LOT of windows. I'm sure there would be more windows than those mentioned, but a general map of significant locations would be great.

 When I said all, I meant all the windows mentioned in HDM. I should have made that more clear. :? It would really help with fan fics and such.

I wonder if PP actually knows all of this stuff himself? I wouldn't be too suprised if hadn't really though about any of it.

I remember reading in an interview that he did spend a lot of time on the mulefa and their anatomy, etc. So hopefully he knows about them! :D

a will's world vs. lyra's world map most definitely... the corresponding places and such.

Maps of Lyra's Jordan, Will's Oxford, maps of different worlds and maps of characters' walks - definitely yes.

Sketches of characters, armored bears, mulefas - no way. I rather use my imagination if I want to picture them, I don't want them to steal my imagination world.

Wouldn't a map of Will's Oxford be identical to an actual map of Oxford? (since it is the same place). I guess he could still include it for easy comparisons with Lyra's Oxford.

It would be the same as an actual map of Oxford, but maybe it could also show where Will lived and things like that.

Yeah they could mark landmarks and stuff - Like the window into Ci'gazze and all the places he went with Lyra.

I'd really like to see a map with those things on it. I hope one is included in The Book of Dust. :)

I wouldn't. It's all planned out in my head.

I had a lot of other things planned out in my head, but not so much the things in actual Oxford. I guess because I'm not that familiar with Oxford. I've been there once, right after I read NL, which was cool (I should've brought TSK to read there). I kept thinking of Lyra running around with her friends. :D Oxford was really beautiful, and I'd love to go back. Now I have to see the garden and everything

My favorite part of going to Oxford was driving down the M40 at 130mph at 3am!

No really Oxford is a great place - lots of culture and cool old buildings and nice places (the Oxford based parts of HDM really show this well)
