I joined this forum shortly after turning 17, and for several years was liable to be
any combination of angry, self-righteous, naive, uninformed, curt and belligerent.
Luckily this teenage attitude is only occasionally evident in my posts - but where
it is, I apologise, and ask you to read them with the understanding that I am no
longer quite so consumed by any of those characteristics.

Call me Ian and you might just see them (one day*)...

*What appears to a promise to tell you what actually happened and what was said is in fact only a possibility, and I want lots of sweets in return...

I must apologise for the delay. I got bogged down in work as soon as I got home, and haven't had a decent run at it yet. It's not a half term holiday. So it'll be done :)

Right, I've now finished it, and am currently having it proof read. I'll then do a bit of light editing, before emailing it to the relevant people for it to be checked. Who are the relevant people? Rosie, Will, Niall, Tristan? Any of them? *looks suitably confused*

Awfully sorry for the frankly disgusting delay, but you should all be seeing it in the near future as I've just emailed it to Niall and Will. Hope you like it. Oh, and if you don't, my name is really Botanic :shifty:

Thanks yet again Ian, it'll be up in a day or so I imagine, I'm far too tired to be doing it now, but I couldnt resist checking to see how quick hdm.org threw it up, and noticed this:

Callum suggested backdating your post to make it look as if you got it up first ... what do you think?

Nah, what's the point, we're not competing with hdm.org (cause we don't need to, we're vastly more popular than they are and always have been) and I certainly ain't linking to them now to show how you did it for all the community. My comment was based on the little ©, as if they not only have it as an exclusive, but that they also own your work...

more popular? the majority of people registered here have either never posted or haven't lasted longer than a month, and though we get some great newbies now and then the oldbies are dwindling to a select few. there's a small percentage of posts actually on his dark materials made daily, whereas cittagazze gets pretty much an equal level of hdm posts and nonrelated stuff (i don't count quarantine, because i've never been in there and don't want to, but even without the games room against hdm posts we've pretty sad ratios), or at least a much more even count, say 40-60?

there are people who are members of both who prefer one or the other, and perhaps that's what you meant by btts being more popular, but in general i think ci'gazze has a larger number of regulars posting everywhere. out of curiousity, do you post at ci'gazze, or have you just decided since there may or may not be less registered members (i haven't checked bc it doesn't matter here so it probably is the same there) that we're more popular? :?

no, i'm not picking a fight, i wonder where you get your ideas from is all.

I would have thought it was obvious I meant by traffic...Btts has always been by far the most popular site in that regard, though we've been slipping a lot recently (feck all news and such.) Certainly our forum isn't leagues ahead of cittegazze, but the site itself certainly is. This is of course irrelevant really, but I'm just saying why I don't feel the need to try and get an interview up first. Ian wanted this to be something shared amongst HDM fans, but if HDM.org don't intend on making that clear then I won't be doing so.

Ay, that they do. However, a lot of those are dead posters, or n00bs who just joined up and never did more than that. Frankly a lot of the posters aren't very mature, and sadly, if they were posters here, they would be banned permanently. As a matter of interest, I think cornycob has about 4 identities there. I post there because there are a few good threads with the better posters in, and I enjoy talking to a few of them. You're right Niall, the site is a long way ahead (it's been named as a link in the Guardian several times). However, I've always felt that one small advantage that HDM'org had/has is that it's European based. This has in the past given them a slightly different perspective. Of course, things have changed here and it is far more UK based now. There's nothing wrong with it being US based, but I believe that made it harder for us to tune into what was going on. Basically, I understand why you don't feel the need to share Niall, and I wouldn't have said that, except that I spend a lot of time on both. Here is of course my favourite. And if you don't mind me saying, my article has been far better presented on BTTS than on hdm.org.
