What was your reation to the ending?
I finished the book in the morning ans so went around the whole of the day sulking about the ending. I still am sulking 2 days after I finished it. Lucky it is now the holidays. Got time to get over it. Wouldn't have been nice at school"
-"What's wrong with you, James?"
Me-"Got badly affected by a book. The ending was when two lovers had to be forced apart"

Wouldn't sound to good at a boy's school in my class.

BTW hope no one here knows me from school. Shoudn't think so.

So what was your reaction?

lol, I got really upset over the ending too. I was on vacation at the time, luckily. I was really sad at the ending. I know that's the best way for it to end, and now I'm glad that's how it turned out, but at the time I was soo sad. I wanted Lyra and Will to be together so much. I cried while I was reading it, on an airplane of all places. When I finished, I went bakc and reread some parts, looking for a loophole. I couldn't concentrate on another book after that.

I re-read it but not looking for loopholes. I just re-read the first kiss part, I thought that was really nice. I know it was a good way to end it though.

I reread that part too. That was a very nice scene, maybe my favourite in the book.

i read TAS a while back but i re-read while i was ill, two days ago. I felt sad and i still feel sad. I felt sad for will and Lyra, but also because it was the end of a good trilogy(maybe not after all). Sometimes i wish i lived in a place where ~*pineapples*~ like that would happen....on second thought.....maybe not actually.

It is a weakness of humans, wanting things that we haven't got and not appricating what we have got.
Yeah that was my fav scene too.

well human nature or not.....they do lead a pretty cool life, even though they make great sacrifices in doing so.

Like Enid Blyton Stories, Harry Potter and other adventure stories. They alll lead cool lives. Any way this is getting off subject.

Reading HDM did make real life seem kind of boring. They have a lot of cool experiences, and even though they ultimately can't stay together, Lyra and Will do get to be with each other for a while, and while they are together they're really happy and they love each other. That's more than some people ever get.

Well thought paragraph. But would you rather not find love any where or find love, love deeply then have that taken away from you?

That's a hard question. Honestly, I'm not sure. I want to say I'd rather find love even if it gets taken away later, but I realize that that's really painful, more than I think you can really imagine unless you've experienced it, which I haven't. But living your whole life without ever being with someone you really love seems so empty and lonely. So I'm not sure.

Were still drifting from the subject but never mind.

Yeah I think I would rather not love because at least then you can live your life not thinking about the person you nearly married.

PS (when do you get a title becuase I am new to here)

Don't worry about getting off topic, it happens all the time and it can lead to very interesting, if non-related, other topics. And you get a title when you get 25 posts.

Oh ok then. See if I can get a title in the first day on the board!

Have you got any good HDM websites? (You said it dosn't matter getting off-subject)

Well, bridgetothestars is good, obviously. I think there's a list there of links to some other good HDM websites. I've been to some others but I don't remember the names. After I finished TAS, I did a search for HDM and went to a million HDM websites. Sad, I know. And I really mean it about getting off topic. This is much less off topic than some things have gotten, anyway.

I don't think it's sad going to a million sites. Thats what I did with LOTR. In the end I got board (spelling mistake) so I was just wondering if there were any must see site, except bridgetothestars. I might start helping with that if they let me because they asked for help and so I applied. Cross finger :)

Well, it isn't exactly the end. I mean, it's the end of Lyra and Will together (which is maybe the best part  ), but there is going to be more about HDM characters, like Lyra's Oxford and The Book of Dust.
